Eczema in winter, taking care of your skin

protect your skin in case of eczema in winter

Winter is a season very popular with skiers and other cold lovers. However, it remains a major enemy for the skin. Cold, wind, bad weather, humidity and sudden changes in temperature weaken your skin and are the cause of numerous reactions: chapping, dryness, rosacea, blemishes, acne.

Over the years, skin sensitized by the cold will become more and more irritated and age more quickly.

Beyond our general advice on eczema, we looked more specifically at skin health according to the seasons. How to prepare your body and your epidermis. We will see, for example, the benefits of a Detox and Zen treatment to face winter.

Furthermore, for people with eczema, the cold is often synonymous with an accentuation of symptoms, or even eczema flare-ups: weakened skin reacts with more intensity to external aggressions. It is therefore important to act before seeing these different manifestations appear.

Eczema in winter: protecting your skin from the inside

As winter approaches, it is important to prepare your body well. This requires a suitable diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What to eat in winter to limit the effects of the cold on eczema?

Incorporate seasonal vegetables such as pumpkin, broccoli, carrots and turnips into your menu. Special mention to our sweet potato, which provides energy, magnesium, beta-carotene and potassium and plenty of vitamin A! The flagship winter vegetable to improve eczema.

Accompany these good seasonal vegetables with fatty fish, twice a week, which will provide you with omega 3 allowing the skin to form a barrier against external aggressions and to fight against skin dehydration. Consumption of omega 3 will not work miracles but attacks could be less violent given the proven benefits of omega 3 on inflammation and healing (1).

Among fatty fish we find: sardines, mackerel, wild salmon, wild trout, halibut, tuna, herring. Furthermore, the vitamin D present in these foods helps reduce the inflammation linked to eczema by slowing the proliferation of plaques and reducing the effects of the disease such as itching and redness (2).

Eczema in winter: what to drink to relieve your eczema?

for eczema or even fruit juices with vitamin AIt is well known that vitamin A has beneficial properties for the skin. A diet provided with this vitamin helps regulate eczema flare-ups and improve its condition. Many fruits and vegetables contain carotenoids that the body converts into vitamin A.

Among the winter vegetables rich in vitamin A we find sweet potato, squash and even watercress! You can juice these vegetables and enjoy them immediately to benefit from all their vitamins.

Also remember to hydrate yourself. The 1.5 liters of water per day is just as important in winter as in summer. Internal hydration remains one of the major actions to maintain supple skin. When it is cold, you can consume water in the form of infusions.

Favor wild thoughts which have a healing and calming action which relieves itching. Blackcurrant buds are anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and regulate immunity! Infuse, for example, red vine leaves, cherry stems combined with blackcurrant.

Food supplements to stimulate the body

Detox and zen capsules to combat stress and digestive disordersIn addition to food, it is possible to stimulate your body through food supplements. Our Detox and Zen capsules allow you to find relaxation and digestive comfort to maintain beautiful skin throughout the winter. Finally, you will find synergies in trade plants et oils which allow the skin to retain its water, but these are reserved for dry skin and not recommended for combination to oily skin which will see its sebum production increase and imperfections with it.

Protecting your skin from the outside

Once you have adopted good eating habits to limit the effects of your eczema, it is important to nourish your skin. Depending on the season, your skin does not fight against the same external aggressions, which is why it is essential to adapt your beauty routine.

How to take care of your face in winter?

To remove makeup from your face, avoid micellar water or makeup removers based on denatured alcohol which will dry out your skin. You may be familiar with the Less is more trend? Less is more! As few ingredients as possible and your skin will be delighted. If you do not have eczema on your face and you have combination to oily skin, we recommend the Glov glove, whose fabric technology allows you to remove all traces of makeup (even the most resistant mascara) without addition of product, only with water.

For dry skin there is nothing like an oily makeup remover which will provide additional hydration to the face. Use alone with your fingertips or using a konjac sponge. After removing makeup and cleansing your face, spray floral water. Against the effects of the cold, those of rose, cornflower and chamomile will be your allies.

If you have facial eczema, you can use our Regenerating Foaming Complex to remove makeup and clean your face. However, be careful not to use it on the eyes! Also remember to moisturize your skin well by using a rich cream. Pso Natura Rich Restructuring Cream effectively fights against redness and itching linked to eczema.

Remember to moisturize your eczema well during the winter

Eczema cream tipsFor the rest of the body, do not hesitate to choose creams with a high concentration of nourishing ingredients such as shea or other oils (argan, almond, etc.). Even if you find them too oily during the first applications, your skin will thank you at the end of winter.

Don't wait for the first cracks, start applying a rich cream as soon as temperatures drop and the first cold snaps appear, otherwise the skin will be difficult to rehydrate and/or repair. If you can do two applications per day that's ideal! If you only do one, you should do it when you get out of the shower.

Psoriatic skin which basically needs constant and effective hydration will need to take extra precautions during winter. We therefore recommend applying our Rich Restructuring Cream on the body to avoid severe breakouts and itching.

Eczema, don't forget:

– Avoid baths or showers that are too hot (yes, I know the temptation is great when the temperatures are below zero outside…). Prefer a hammam with diffusion of plants and essential oils.

– Not to wear pure irritating materials such as wool or cashmere. Prefer them mixed with other materials.

– Avoid synthetic materials above the chest where the skin is thinnest and most sensitive. These materials prevent the skin from breathing well. Prefer natural materials or mixtures of synthetic materials and natural materials.

– To avoid overheating in your home. Too much heat will attack your skin and affect your blood circulation, just like indoor/outdoor temperature differences.

– Get a breath of fresh air, laugh and catch as much sun as possible to avoid a dull complexion!
